On the Threshold of Eternity
1990
Polychromed Found Wood/ Plywood

I practiced law as a sole practitioner from 1979 to 1987. The practice was predominately tax, real estate, oil & gas, estate planning and probate. Many of my clients were in their eighties and nineties.

Age takes its toll. Hands become more weathered, with veins more prominent. The muscles of the face relax, the mouth may drop. Stroke is a constant threat.

The spirit of Threshold has many of these same features; and I see the figure as literally at the portal to eternity. His eyes gaze upward. The very hair on his head points upward. In a blaze of light, the stars which fill the universe come into full view.

The beginning of a new journey -- in wonderment.
