The Du was one of the rubber plantations the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company established in Liberia. It was inland from Monrovia, and situated on the Du River. The Du was a small river, not like the Ohio River in the United States. Still, it was one of the important means of transport for supplies to the plantation; as well as a way for shipping raw materials (rubber) out. The Du was also accessible by road.

Father traveled to the Du frequently, both for business and diversion.
