Mary Conrad was the daughter of Leonard Conrad and Auget Rettig of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she was born in 1769. She married Jacob Burgner in that county in the year 1800. Jacob and Mary later moved to Summit County, Ohio, where died August 23, 1843.

Mary and her husband, Jacob, had eleven children. Son, John Burgner, was born February 2, 1805 and died April 1, 1880.
