Same evening --

I bought some silver bangles from a bush-boy a couple of weeks ago. If heavy silver is any good at home for jewelry, these are plenty good.

The sun just leaps into the ocean and I cannot see this paper. It is only a quarter past six.

I got three pair of drill trousers the other day. My first new clothes for the linen ones which I brought with me were too fine to stand the punishment my wash-boy gives them. They are ready for the wash by evening because they wrinkle. The boy seems to think they must be taken apart to be cleaned.

"Chop ready" says the steward.
